Wanda Bonnell - Coached by Xavier Huerta

Wanda J. Bonnell- Wanda is a firecracker! This summer she has affectionately been nicknamed “Magic Wanda” within the DWTTS Family! Wanda is an alumnus of CSU Stanislaus with a BA in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling. Wanda has worked in higher education for over 25 years with extensive experience in serving the needs of former foster youth in education. Wanda developed the Promise Scholars Foster Youth Program at Stanislaus State and served as the coordinator for 10 years prior to retirement. Wanda’s contributions to the Promise Scholars Program and the University is reflected in her numerous awards and recognitions! Wanda is involved in several service organizations, has NO prior dance experience and is hoping to learn professional dance techniques and developing new community relationships while supporting important non-profits.
Xavier Huerta- Choreographer Xavier has been dancing for more than fifteen years and is representing Alegria Ballroom Dance Academy where he is a Salsa instructor! He is the proud father of Ella, 14, who also shares his love of dance. Xavier has been a professional with DWTTS for all 6 years, has taken home 4 Jr. Mirror Balls, and does video production for the event. He is the co-owner of Sips & Salsa and a 5th Grade teacher at Dennis Earl Elementary School and the video producer for Harvest Christian Center. To add to his long list of accomplishments, Xavier has won 1st place at the 2015 Pro-am Salsa competition in Sacramento and 2nd place at the 2015 Amateur Tango competition in Sacramento. Xavier is blessed with many DWTTS friends that he values dearly and DWTTS is lucky to have him!
